Watch them fly at the International Worthing Birdman competition

Watch them fly at the International Worthing Birdman competition

Britain is alive with strange events and local customs that make for an unusual and entertaining date.  Here’s what’s on in August, September and October 2009.

A good laugh and plenty to talk about are the ingredients for a great date, and few things are more entertaining than a group of people competing to make a fool of themselves by wrestling in gravy, gurning through a horse collar or attempting to fly from a pier!

We aren’t suggesting that all the events listed here are suitable for the first date – gravy wrestling isn’t exactly wining and dining!

But if you’re on date number three or four and the sun is shining, why not jump in the car and take a road trip to one of these bizarre and quirky British events.  It beats another film and restaurant any day! (more…)

Funny First Date No-Nos

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Next time you’re nervous about a first date or return home disappointed because it didn’t go as you’d hoped, take a look back at these and breathe a sigh of relief!

Here’s a few of our favourite and funny first date no-nos from JustSingles.com HQ, and we hope you’ll add a few of yours to the comment boxes below. These actually happened!

Never suggest your date might meet your mother’s expectations.

Don’t discuss the girl you dated with STDs.

Never take your overnight bag with you on a first date.

Don’t insist on buying your date a pair of shoes and then admit you have a shoe fetish.

Avoid talking about the ex – or how they took you to the cleaners and left you with the ailing pooch and her expensive vet fees…

Select your food wisely because we’re all of the opinion that spaghetti around the chops is never a good look.

Never pay for the date with a gift card…

Check that your blind date isn’t a relative first.

Never produce a ticket to Dubai and a spare key to your house at the end of a first date.  (As surprising as it sounds, this really did happen to someone at JustSingles HQ!)

Make sure the anonymous and gorgeous girl who sent you a friend request on Facebook is not really your ex-girlfriend.

Do you have any that can top these? Let us know!
