Free parcel collection from your local pub? What a brilliant idea!
We love this fantastic new initiative from Scottish & Newcastle. Not only will the days of arriving home to that bit of red card on the door mat be over, but you won’t have to queue at the sorting office ever again!
Instead you can pop down to your local, long after those lovely chaps at the Post Office have gone home, pick up your package and perhaps have a cheeky pint to boot.
Of course the other reason we think this is a genius idea is the sad fact that no matter where you live, boarded-up pubs with big for sale signs are everywhere. Around fifty pubs are closing each week so we love the idea of supporting your local and being able to pick up your online shopping at whatever time suits you!
The service is completely free to the public, and here’s how it works:
• Register yourself at www.useyourlocal.com
• Find the pub that you want to send a parcel to
• Follow the links to register your parcel
• Order your stuff or post the parcel as normal – using the pub address as the delivery address
• Everyone gets an email letting them know it’s coming
• The pub receives the parcel and logs it as “Arrived”
• We send the recipient an email saying it’s ready to collect
• The recipient goes to the pub with ID to collect it
• The pub logs it as “Collected” and everyone gets an email.
